| Markus Stummer began his professional career in the film industry as a cutter for Bavaria Film, before moving to the Creation Department at the German television channel RTL2 in 1996. At RTL2, he produced merchandising spots and programme trailers and carried out filming work for programme design. | After completing a two-year training course as a drama educator parallel to his job, he fully moved into the world of directing and specialised in the production and design of adverts, image films and music videos. | The first commercial that he shot was for Guinness and immediately achieved him a place in the shortlist of the Young Directors Awards in Cannes. This was followed by the production of numerous music videos, including those for Rollergirl, Bacon Popper and the Italian star Luca Carboni.
